Spending more of your time inside your mind
I'll admit it.
I spend almost all my time inside my own head. I guess most of us do.
The question is: Is it "quality time" that you're spending there?
Face it, do you linger on all the old arguments you could have done better?
Do you review old hurts and slights others have given you?
Do you ponder ways of hurting others?
Do you ask yourself (whinny voice) "Why does this always happen to me?"
Not really what I would call "quality time" inside your head, is it?
In fact most of us were given a real gift of mind, brain and thought and no operating instructions.
The result is that we do the best we can with the information at hand.
So just suppose that you take the best performers, athletes, sales people, romantic partners, persuaders and negotiators and modeled just what makes them so damn good at what they do?
That would be very, very cool.
Frankly, I don't care what area of expertise they have, if they have a system that will show measurable improvement over time I'll use it and work it like a rented mule.
Well I've got one for you.
It's a book The Mental Edge by Michael Baum
